Scholarship Programs
2015 nbmbaa scholarships

The National Black MBA Association® provides financial support to students pursuing careers in business, academia, and related professions.

  • Our mission is to identify and increase the pool of Black talent for business, public, private, and non-profit sectors.
  • The program is supported by donations from our corporate and educational partners and members.
  • Scholarship awards range from $1,000 to $10,000 however award amounts are contingent upon funding for the current year.

nbmbaa NBMBAA Graduate Scholarship (Closed for 2016)

Applicants must:
  • Be a student entering their first year (Fall 2016), or continuing in a full or part-time master’s program at an accredited college or university at the time of award (September 2016)
  • Be a financially active member of the National Black MBA Association.
  • Be a U.S. or Canadian citizen.
  • Submit essay on provided topic.
  • Submit a current resume.
  • Have a 3.0 or above GPA.
  • Demonstrate academic excellence.
  • Demonstrate exceptional leadership potential.
  • Be actively involved in their local communities through service to others.
  • Be recommended by a faculty member or individual familiar with applicant’s academic achievements or supervisor in a business workplace.
Application materials:
  • APPLICATION: Must be completed online.
  • ESSAY: Complete a 500 word essay on the selected topic - submitted online only.
  • RESUME: Submit a current resume no more than two (2) pages long.
  • TRANSCRIPT(S): Required - upload a copy of your most recent official transcript(s).
  • PHOTOGRAPHS: Submit a headshot in jpeg format. The image should be at least 1024 x 768.

Recipients receive scholarship awards up to $10,000 and are required to agree to participate in limited public relations activities.

nbmbaa NBMBAA Undergraduate Scholarship (Closed for 2016)

Applicants must:
  • Be a student in their first, second, third, or fourth year enrolled full-time at an accredited college or university at the time of award (September 2016).
  • Be a financially active member of the National Black MBA Association.
  • Be a U.S. or Canadian citizen.
  • Submit essay on provided topic.
  • Submit a current resume.
  • Have a 3.0 or above GPA.
  • Demonstrate academic excellence.
  • Demonstrate exceptional leadership potential.
  • Be actively involved in their local communities through service to others.
  • Be recommended by faculty advisor.
Application materials:
  • APPLICATION: Must be completed online.
  • ESSAY: Complete a 500 word essay on the selected topic - submitted online only.
  • RESUME: Submit a current resume no more than two (2) pages long.
  • TRANSCRIPT(S): Required - upload a copy of your most recent official transcript(s).
  • PHOTOGRAPHS: Submit a professional headshot in jpeg format. The image should be at least 1024 x 768.

Recipients receive scholarship awards up to $5,000 and are required to agree to participate in limited public relations activities.

Bentley University

Bentley University offers three merit-based scholarship opportunities at the undergraduate and graduate level for members of the NBMBAA. A full-tuition four-year scholarship is offered at the undergraduate level for students who are members of the NBMBAA Leaders of Tomorrow program and demonstrate a record of academic excellence. Two scholarships, one full and one partial, are also available at the graduate level for applicants who are members of the NBMBAA and are accepted to one of our nine Masters or MBA programs.

Brandeis International Business School - Merit Scholarship

In partnership with IBS, the NBMBAA awards the Graduate Merit Scholarship to an outstanding African American student who is either a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident in the United States, and is a member of the NBMBAA in good standing.

China Europe International Business School/ NBMBAA Graduate Merit Scholarship (CEIBS) (Application ended for 2016)

The China Europe International Business School/ National Black MBA Association Scholarship The NBMBAA and CEIB is offering a merit-based tuition scholarship award of $30,000 USD to enrolled students who are NBMBAA members in good standing to study full time toward their MBA degree.

The China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) is ranked #1 in Asia by BusinessWeek and is ranked #17 in the world by the Financial Times. CEIBS offers an All-English, 18-Month MBA at their Shanghai campus. Awards are made on the basis of academic, professional, and/or personal merit.



Northeastern University/National Black MBA Association MBA Scholarship

In partnership with Northeastern University, this merit-based scholarship covers up to full tuition to qualified candidates who are NBMBAA members and admitted to Northeastern’s Full-time MBA program. Awards are made on the basis of academic, professional and/or personal merit. This scholarship may be renewable.

Simmons School of Management/National Black MBA Association Scholarship

In partnership with the Simmons School of Management, this renewable scholarship offers up to full tuition for candidates who are National Black MBA Association members in good standing and admitted to Simmons’ Master of Business Administration program. Awards are made on the basis of academic, professional and/or personal merit.
