The NBMBAA National MBA Scholarship Program awards scholarships to the top 25 applicants identified through our annual essay competition. Recipients are selected based upon their written response to an essay topic, most recent grade point average, verbal communication skills, and level of extra-curricular activities and community involvement.  

APPLICATION IS NOW CLOSED

Recipients receive:

  • Scholarship awards up to $15,000
  • NBMBAA® membership

Additionally some recipients will receive:

  • Round-trip airfare & housing to the Annual Conference & Exposition
  • Complimentary conference registration 
  • Special VIP access to receptions and events at the conference

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be a minority enrolled in a full-time graduate business program in a college or university in the United States, or Canada at the time of award (Sept. 2009)
  • Agree to participate in limited public relations activities
  • Agree to become an active member in his or her local chapter
  • Agree to become a member of the NBMBAA® Scholarship Advisory Team & Scholarship Alumni Club
  • Submit an essay, resume, and transcripts.

Application materials:

ESSAY
Essays may be submitted through our online process only. You will be prompted to upload a two-page, typed essay (double spaced, 12-point font) that addresses one of the topics below:

  • What recommendations would you give to Business Schools that want to redesign their recruitment strategies to attract minority candidates? Once enrolled, what resources or programs should be offered to help retain minority students?
  • What can African Americans do to become more marketable in the global economy?

RESUME
Resumes may be submitted through our online process only. Resumes must not exceed 2 pages.


TRANSCRIPT(S)
Official transcripts are required for all college coursework. All other students should submit transcripts from the current graduate program. Transcripts must be received stamped and sealed (no photocopies, computer printouts, or faxes will be accepted). Transcripts must be mailed directly to:
